The Seltzer Americano is a refreshing new twist on the classic iced americano coffee. This recipe is perfect for summer and can be prepared in minutes.
This is a recipe I have wanted to bring to life from my years as a barista. Working behind the coffee bar, there were constantly ideas spinning in my head for new drinks to try myself. I love dark espresso, it is so powerful and pairs so nicely with citrus notes. With that in mind, I used a citrusy seltzer with hints of sweet vanilla. Together the combination is surprisingly refreshing and delicious.
The Seltzer Americano Recipe
Ingredients:
Makes TWO
1 can of Seltzer Orange Vanilla, (I used Polar Brand)
2 - 4 oz. Dark Espresso
Ice Cubes
Orange Peel (Optional)
Directions:
Brew Espresso: there are so many ways to brew espresso, please use the one best suited to your kitchen. I used a moka pot. You can brew the espresso ahead of time, as this is an iced drink and does not need to stay hot.
Make Americano: in a glass of your choice (4 - 8 oz. glass is preferred for flavor balance). Fill the glass with ice and add the Orange Vanilla Seltzer, leaving an inch at the top of the glass to fit the espresso. Pour espresso on top of seltzer, garnish with orange peel and enjoy!

Tips & Tricks
You can’t brew espresso:
A strong dark roast can be substituted, but the considering adding maybe 1- 2 oz. or coffee for the strength of flavor
You can also use a premade cold brew coffee or concentrate
You can’t get the Polar Orange Vanilla Seltzer:
That’s ok! You can use a similar citrus flavor or a plain seltzer to maintain the effect of the bubbles.
